It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI). Bangladesh is a developing country aspiring to become a Middle Income Country by 2026. With its very limited land of 180 million population, the huge manpower of Bangladesh is the key factor of economic development. These enormous populations need to be trained to make them productive human resources. Since 1991, DCCI has been working relentlessly for the development of entrepreneurs and professionals through its training centre, upgraded to DBI in 1999, with a vision to make it a professional business school.

DBI has been offering six months long Postgraduate Diploma Programmes in (i) Customs, VAT and Income Tax Management, (ii) International Trade (Export & Import) Management, (iii) Business Communication, & (iv) Supply Chain Management. In addition, it has also been implementing three months-long Certificate Courses and various short training courses and workshops to develop forward-looking entrepreneurs and business managers in the private sector in Bangladesh.

It is worth mentioning that DCCI won the “Best Training Support Institution Award 2018” of ITC’s SCM Global Network Roundtable 2018, “MLS-SCM(P) Best Network Partner Institution Award 2011” of International Trade Centre (ITC)-UNCTAD/WTO, Geneva, among its partner Institutions in 69 countries, and “ICC-World Chambers Federation Competition Award 2007” in “Best Skills Development Programme”.

We trained 25,000+ participants from 1991-2023. Participants of the above courses expressed great satisfaction with the outcome of the courses which enhanced their forward-looking attitude, practical and theoretical knowledge and skill which widened their mental horizon to make them confident in doing their job professionally.

The close collaboration between employers and universities is instrumental in providing an educated and competent workforce. DBI has already signed MoU with: i) American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), ii) United International University (UIU), iii) North South University (NSU), iv) Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), v) Northern University of Bangladesh (NUB), (vi) University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), (vii) Daffodil International University (DIU), (viii) Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), (ix) Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), (x) Institute of Business Administration (IBA), (xi) Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), (xii) The Institute of Charted Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), (xiii) Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), (xiv) Istanbul Gedik University, Turkiye, to focus on improving its industrial and educational policies, emphasizing innovation, industriousness, and product development to address the linkage of Industry – Academia.

Partner organizations have found it mutually beneficial to have a formal understanding between them for implementing activities which include organizing different types of training programs jointly, sharing logos, sharing signatory of certificates, sharing resource persons, sector-based Research facilities, providing internships, organizing job fairs, seminar, workshop, business conference, etc.

DBI has started to organize training for Non-resident Bangladeshis and foreign Entrepreneurs on “How to Become Entrepreneur in Bangladesh” jointly with Foreign Embassies in Bangladesh and Bangladesh High Commissions abroad.
