Introduction
Keen understanding and practice of value-driven procurement is important because it helps organizations move beyond choosing suppliers based solely on the lowest price and instead focus on the overall value a purchase brings. Value-driven Procurement is more likely to consider factors such as quality, long-term cost savings, sustainability, innovation, and supplier reliability during purchasing decisions. Practicing value-driven Procurement supports better decision-making, reduces hidden costs and risks, and ensures that procurement activities contribute to the organization’s strategic goals and long-term performance. When employees, managers, and procurement teams believe this concept, they begin to evaluate purchases based on factors such as product quality, lifecycle cost, supplier reliability, innovation, sustainability, and overall impact on organizational performance. This broader perspective helps prevent poor procurement decisions that may appear cheap initially but lead to higher maintenance costs, operational disruptions, or lower quality outcomes over time. The session on Value-driven procurement would encourage better collaboration between procurement teams and other departments, ensuring that purchasing decisions align with strategic goals and operational needs. It will also ensure the establishment of supplier relationships by focusing on partnerships that deliver continuous value rather than short-term savings. Ultimately the session will promote the practice of value-driven procurement and lead to more efficient use of resources, improved service delivery, reduced risks, and stronger long-term organizational performance.
