Mr. Rezaul Karim, Deputy Commissioner of Bangladesh Customs, currently working as the Deputy Director in the Audit, Intelligence, and Investigation Directorate, Value Added Tax (VAT). He joined Bangladesh Customs in 2013 as an Assistant Commissioner, and over the past 12 years, he has had the privilege of working in a variety of important offices such as Customs House Benapole, Customs House Dhaka, Central Intelligence Cell, and Customs House Chittagong. He is experienced in working at land, air, and sea customs stations.
In his tenure, He has had the honour of working at the Central Intelligence Cell, which is the apex intelligence body of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). He has also participated in numerous training programs related to critical customs issues, both in Bangladesh and abroad. Notably, he attended a training program on GIR and HS Classification at the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Brussels, Belgium. Additionally, he has been fortunate enough to take part in customs-related training programs in the USA, Japan, China, the Philippines, and India.
He has served as a trainer at the Bangladesh Customs Training Academy, as well as at other Customs and VAT offices and various government and non-government organizations. As part of his expertise, he was selected as an expert pool member for HS Classification by NBR and have served as a trainer for fellow customs officials.
In recognition of his contributions to the capacity building of Customs officers, particularly in HS Classification and Customs offense investigation, he received the WCO Certificate of Merit in 2017.
