
Dr. Md. Jamil Sharif is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He began his academic career in the department as a Lecturer in 2010 and has been teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for over a decade.
Dr. Sharif earned his PhD from Tohoku University, Japan in 2017. He also holds an MBA and a BBA from the Department of Accounting & Information Systems, University of Dhaka, completed in 2006 and 2007 respectively. He is a Fellow member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Sharif has been an Independent Director at Progressive Life Insurance Company Ltd. and also served the Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company Limited (BIFC) as an Independent Director.
He has authored numerous research articles published in both national and international peer-reviewed journals. His research interests span a wide range of areas, including Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Auditing, and Taxation. He is also an active independent researcher involved in various projects funded by the University of Dhaka and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.
Dr. Sharif is a founding member of the Bangladesh Business Research Foundation (BBRF), where he currently serves as Treasurer
