A. K. M. Mahbubur Rahman is currently working as Member (Technical) in Customs, Excise and VAT Tribunal, Dhaka. He joined in BCS (Customs and VAT) Cadre in May 2003. He served as 2nd Secretary, VAT (policy & budget) of NBR in FY 2009-10 and 2010-11. He worked as  Commissioner in Customs House, Mongla, Customs Bond Commissionerate, Chattogram, and as Director General of Customs, Excise & VAT Training Academy, Chattogram. He got training on Customs and VAT from home and abroad. He regularly conducts training on VAT and Customs matters. He has authored a book named 'VAT System of Bangladesh'. He was born on 1974 at Bogura.

He was graduated in English from Jahangirnagar University. He completed his Masters from the same university in the same subject.
